Thalapathy Vijay’s selfie with fans at Neyveli has become the Most Retweeted Tweet of 2020. In February this year, Vijay surprised his supporters, who were gathered on the sets of his upcoming film, Master, by clicking a selfie with them. The actor was shooting at Neyveli when this happened. Vijay climbed on to the top of the bus that was parked near the shooting spot to take selfie with the crowd.
The actor shared the picture on Twitter and captioned it as ‘Thank You Neyveli’. Within few minutes, the selfie became a sensation on the internet. The tweet has been retweeted more than 145,000 times, which explains his fan-base across the country.
Another reason why the tweet became popular was that it was also the time when Vijay was subjected to IT raids in connection with the success of his previous film, Bigil. He had to cancel the shooting to complete the IT department formalities in Chennai. When he returned to Neyveli after completing the procedures, he was welcomed by hundreds of fans.
The picture was a statement of sorts to show his massive fan-base across the state. Vijay was overwhelmed by the support he received at the Master shooting spot.
Vijay was summoned by the IT department over tax evasion charges and was asked to appear within the next three days. This happened after the Income Tax sleuths conducted raids in financier Anbu Chezhiyan’s and his aide Saravanan’s properties.
On the work front, Vijay is currently waiting for the release of his upcoming film Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He has also signed a project with Sun Pictures, which willl be announced soon.
